Třinecké železárny invested in its subsidiaries CZK 1.5 bln. last year


The company Třinecké železárny invested in development of its subsidiaries a record amount of CZK 1.5 bln. In 2007, the Třinec steel company invested in its subsidiaries CZK 1.1 bln.

Last year was very challenging in particular subsidiaries concerning investments. “Almost every subsidary has noticed an extraordinary investment that has not been equivalent in history ever,“ tells the Investment Director of Třinecké železárny Mr. Jan Czudek and adds that the period of strategic investment in subsidiaries was completed in last year. “We are not going to realize such a remarkable investment in our subsidiaries neither this year nor in following years. We plan to spend hundreds of millions czech crowns especially on power industry and ecology,“ says the Invetsment Director.

The Třinecké železárny – Moravia Steel Group is being continuously expanded and at present it owns its shares in 28 companies. The most of them is fully controlled by Třinecké železárny. “The main criteria and strategic obejctives are creating product chains so we are striving for acqisitions of companies that further up-value our capital. On the other hand our aim is to be as close as possible to sources of raw materials,“ tells the Investment Director. The key subsidiaries from the point of view of product chains are following Sochorová válcovna Kladno (billet mill), Válcovna trub TŽ in Ostrava (tube mill), Ferromoravia in Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště (drawing mill), Šroubárna Kyjov (screws), Řetězárna Česká Ves (chains), VÚHŽ Dobrá (Research Institute) and Materiálový a metalurgický výzkum Ostrava (research&development) also.

At the end of 2008, the building-up of new walking-beam furnace in Sochorová válcovna was completed of the total amount of CZK 450 million. “The main strategic objective of this investment was to increase of heating capacity together with improving of financial results and technological parameters,“ says Mr. Jan Czudek. The next remarkable investment was a reconstruction and modernization of rolling mill of Big Mannesmann in Válcovna trub TŽ of total CZK 770 million where it was constructed almost the whole technological part of the tube shop. This new facility will contribute to improving of qualitative criteria, dimension accuracy and extending the product portfolio by tubes of higher grades together with a complex diagnostics of the whole production.

The Japanese forging presses Sakamura has been installed in Šroubárna Kyjov that enables forging of accurate forged pieces particularly for bearings as well as larger diversification of product portfolio. To the fundamental investments in the company Ferromoravia belonged the construction of new combined drawing facility Schumag 3B/25 for drawing from coils to bars for the dimensions from 19 up to 42 millimetre last year. “ This project was closely connected with the investment of Garret coilers in Třinecké železárny and uses the inputs of this line,“ adds the Investment Director.
