Třinecké železárny commenced one of the biggest recent investments
Despite heavy global economic crisis, Trinecke zelezarny are still investing in its future. Today, the company has commenced the modernization one of two coke oven batteries at its coke plant. One of the biggest investments of the last decade, which will be put into operation in spring 2011, will cost almost CZK 2 billion.
Technology of the coke production in the new battery will remain the same. "After the reconstruction, the coke oven battery will meet all of the limits prescribed by law as well as it will use the best available technologies (BAT). It will significantly improve the environmental performance, "says Jan Czudek, the Investment Director that for example, when quenching coke the company goes to 50 g/t from the current 100 g/t of solid emissions. The content of ammonia in the discharge of waste water will also reduce. For new coal-fired facilities de-dusting services, solid emission at pushing coke and coal services will be reduced from 100 mg/m3 to 20 mg/m3 of air.
The battery has been removed today. After its cooling off, the dismantling and demolition work will begin. Since February, construction of the heated, insulated hangar over the battery is envisioned, the lining of the battery will go on inside it. Just it will be needed about six thousand tons of ganister bricks and 2,800 tons of fireclay bricks. The lining of the chambers should be finished in the third quarter of next year. Then the assembly of the technology will continue. Start of drying and heating of the battery is planned in October 2010 so that the batteries are able to produce coke in the spring of 2011.
"Possible reconstruction of the second battery will be decided in the next period. Of course, it will depend on the market situation too," said investment director.
The investment policy of the Trinecke zelezarny - Moravia Steel Group has recently been increasingly focused on reconstruction of production facilities and introduction of modernization and environmental projects. Since 1997 Trinecke Zelezarny has invested more than CZK 13 billion, while over four billion crowns only pointing to the environmental projects.
