The ice-hockey club was established in 1929 and it has been a part of the Czech ice-hockey top for many years. The club entered the extraleague 1995 and since this time it joined the Czech ice-hockey elite. In the ice-hockey season 2010/2011, the HC Oceláři Třinec achieved the greatest success so far - they have won in the basic part of the Extraleague and in the play off as well, and gained the Presidential Cup and the Extraleague Cup for the winner of the Czech ice-hockey Extraleague.
The promising and talented Czech skier won the bronz medal in the World Championships 2005 in Bormio, further followed by her greatest success achieved so far - first gold medal for the Czech Republic in alpine skiing in the whole history at the World Championships 2007 in Swedish Åre. The top rank skier gained the second and third place in slalom in the World Cup.
Beskydská laka
The 19th year of the High Jump Cup "Beskydská laka" took place on the 26th of January 2011 in Třinec hall STaRS. The spectators could admire a breathtaking exhibition of 18 years old Russian Maria Kučinová who reached her personal best of 197 cm and created the best world high jump of the year as well as the best junior high jump of the hall.
