The cultural event on the Czech – Slovak – Polish borderland known as The Heart of Europe took place in 2011 already for the eighth time. As every year the concert has been related with the sale of symbolic paper hearts. The profit has been traditionally donated to the social welfare institutions in the region. A total amount of CZK 85 thousand was divided this year.
The spectators gained a remarkable musical experience due to performances of musical stars Xindl X, Helena Zeťová, Markéta Konvičková, Denisa Roszková, musical band Boutique and Rybičky 48. The spectators sang the most best-known hits together with them.
Benefit concert of famous singer Marta Kubišová that took place on the 18th of January 2008 in the Evangelic Church in Třinec earned roughly CZK 870,000 for the social welfare institution in Třinec. The cheque of CZK 737,000 was given to the Director of the Třinec social welfare institution by the 1st Vice-Chairman of the BoD of Třinecké železárny and Moravia Steel Mr. Ján Moder. The significant part of the total amount was donated by the Moder spouses who belonged to the main sponsors of the concert.
The young chorus Laudate from Bystřice appeared during the concert as well and its singing in the rhythm of the Afroamerican choruses overjoyed everyone. Marta Kubišová entered the stage claimless on honorarium after she had been familiarized with the whole project with the title "Improving of providing care of handicapped children". The offerings will be directed to the reconstruction of the social welfare institution that will cost approx. CZK three and half million.
