The company Válcovna trub TŽ, a.s. is a significant producer of seamless steel tubes not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Europe. It is a continuator of first European tube mill.

It operates two Manesmann mills which production program comprises seamless hot-rolled steel tubes of the diameter 60.3 up to 406.4 mm with the wall thickness of 6.3 up to 60 mm produced from non-alloyed and alloyed steels.

The production is characteristic by elaborated technology of wide range production of steel grades and large dimension assortment. The tubes are produced according to the most common international standards ČSN, DIN, ASTM, GOST, NFA, API etc. These tubes are used in construction of pipelines, production of energetic facilities, chemical industry, in automotive field, engineering and building industry. Oil tubes Casing 9 5/8‘‘ – 13 3/8‘‘ and Line Pipe 6 5/8‘‘ – 14‘‘ for oil and gas mining and for prospecting have dominant position. Pickling and heat treatment is a part of final treatment operations.

Major investment plans have been designed for the period between 2007 and 2011. The main strategic project involves the renovation and modernization of the “Big Mannesmann” operation, which is to improve the surface quality and size accuracy of produced tubes, increase the proportion of products with higher added value and enhance the production of higher quality grades, including the production of tubes made of alloyed steel.
